Kartel presents Pick Your Own

Kartel and The Mules established "Pick Your Own“ as a weekly live residency at Big Chill House during the Summer of 2007. The residency ran for over 2 months and featured performances from a new wave of British artist including; Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit, Noah and the Whale, Emmy the Great, Lightspeed Champion, Eugene McGuinness, Florence & the Machine - alongside Kartel bands; The Mules, Fireworks Night, Richard Walters, Tom Mansi & the Icebreakers & Son of Dave.

Such was the success of the night that Kartel released a compilation of new and exclusive songs from some of the PYO performers. A common thread runs throughout the compilation which gives a nod to the current folk and Americana revival which is a distinctive taste of independently crafted pop music. In March this year Kartel took Pick Your Own on the road to Austin, Texas with a showcase of British talent at this years SXSW Festival featuring performances from Emmy The Great, Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit, Son of Dave and Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man.
